Treating & Healing Trauma in Women
Trauma can be the driving force behind addiction and mental illness. Our trained therapists empower women to break painful cycles and create happy, full lives.
Our Women’s Trauma Program
Our team of experts has designed a women’s trauma program for those with PTSD, C-PTSD, subclinical trauma, and related disorders. This need is prevalent among our population. Statistically, women are twice as likely to develop PTSD, react more strongly to triggers, and experience post-traumatic symptoms for longer than their male counterparts.
Common traumatic experiences include sexual assault, sudden injury, serious illness, domestic violence, childbirth, witnessing violence against others, and living in poverty; however, these incidents can take almost any form.
Trauma can have lifelong effects whether it:
- Happened once (acute) or many times (chronic)
- Was in or out of a person’s control
- Occurred in childhood, adolescence, or adulthood
- Combined with other traumatic events (complex) or is the only negative incident a person has experienced
- Took place nearby or far away
- Is associated with someone living or someone who has passed away
- Happened recently or long ago
No matter what took place, a dedicated trauma program can make a difference in a woman’s health and well-being. Rising Roads helps those who have experienced events that left them feeling powerless, worthless, or frightened. Our programming is ideal for women dealing with symptoms like flashbacks, nightmares, anxiety, avoidance, and substance abuse.
Effective Trauma Therapies
Rising Roads is staffed by experienced clinicians who utilize only the gold standard of trauma therapies. These evidence-based practices form the foundation of our program.
Modalities include:
- Accelerated resolution therapy (ART)
- Brainspotting
- Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT)
- Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)
- Psychiatry
- Psychodrama
Our counselors also engage clients with hands-on and expressive therapies. We have found that movement and artistic creation can help women confront painful memories, work through past events, and find the words for their traumatic experiences. Additionally, surfing, “Rock to Recovery,” sound baths, and yoga are all part of the treatment programming at Rising Roads.
A Haven for Healing
We pride ourselves on creating a safe place for women to recover. At our gender-specific facility, clients heal alongside other women who have lived through challenges like theirs. If they experience a trauma response, they do so while surrounded by clinical experts and compassionate peers. Rising Roads provides the opportunity for program participants to uncover trauma bonds, triggers, and patterns in a safe space.
